Delaware County Commerce Center Celebrates Governor Shapiro's Historic Visit to Ridley Park, Highlighting Thriving Main Street and New $25 Million State Investment

Ridley Park, PA – The Delaware County Commerce Center (DCCC) applauds Governor Josh Shapiro's recent visit to Ridley Park, marking the first known time a sitting Governor has visited the borough. The visit, which focused on Hinkley Avenue's revitalized Main Street and its locally owned businesses, comes as Governor Shapiro announced a proposed $25 million state investment in revitalizing main streets across Pennsylvania.

During his visit, Governor Shapiro stopped at two beloved Ridley Park businesses, The BrickHaus and Rosemary, experiencing firsthand the vibrant atmosphere and economic energy generated by successful Main Street revitalization efforts. Ridley Park's Business District has shown remarkable growth in recent years, attracting new businesses and residents while retaining its unique charm. This growth serves as a prime example of the kind of success the state's new Main Street investment strategy aims to foster across Pennsylvania.

“Governor Shapiro’s visit underscores the vital role of main streets to our local economy and aligns perfectly with his proposed economic development strategy which recognizes the diversity of Pennsylvania's economy and the critical need to support entrepreneurs and attract skilled workers," stated Delaware County Councilmember Elaine Paul Schaefer. “Governor Shapiro’s commitment to growing Pennsylvania’s economy is commendable. The proposed investment will provide crucial support for small businesses throughout Delaware County, empowering them to retain and attract talent, expand their operations, and further contribute to the vibrancy of our main streets.”

“We are excited to work alongside Governor Shapiro, Secretary Sigar, and our state and local officials to ensure that Delaware County businesses receive the resources and support they need to thrive," said Laura Goodrich Cairns, Executive Director of the Delaware County Commerce Center. "We know investing in our locally owned businesses and our main streets fosters a vibrant community culture and strengthens our economy."
