
Emergency Services in Delaware County are assisted through three departments, to facilitate communication and on going training of fire, police and emt personnel. There are over 50 active fire departments and 35 police departments covering the 49 municipalities in Delaware County.
Emergency Communications and Management

The county has an enhanced 911 communications systems center that fields over 1 million phone calls annually. Personnel are trained onsite to handle calls for police, fire and ambulatory services. The Delaware County 911 communications center has been named one of the finest in the nation.
This department is also responsible for the planning and coordination of County resources in response to emergency situations. They also assist local government in planning for emergency preparedness.

The Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center assists in the training of fire and police personnel. These facilities include classrooms, an indoor pistol range, a burn building, confined space training facility, and a propane training area.
Intercommunity Health Coordination

The Department of Intercommunity Health Coordination implements a health coordination program and serves as a Regional Emergency Medical Services Office for Delaware County.
